Grappa di Brunello
Distilled vine pomace refined in barriques. Grappa di Brunello di Altesino was created for the first time in 1977 when the estate joined forces with Master distiller Gioacchino Nannoni to distil the first Grappa di Fattoria (literally, the Farm’s Grappa) in an attempt to enhance the value of Tuscan vine pomace, which until then had been totally ignored. After many years of production the fresh pomace from Altesino is still being distilled only a few hours after being taken from the wine by discontinuous distillation in a copper still with low-degree columns. A short time in wood barrels gives this grappa a distinctive light straw colour with golden highlights and slight hints of vanilla and oak, though without sacrificing the fruity taste typical of a young grappa. Well-balanced, with a pleasant impact, this grappa confirms the promise of its aromas in the mouth.
